Desert & Gorges & Iruya

Program 2 Days

Day 1: Salta / San Antonio de los Cobres / Salinas Grandes / Purmamarca / Tilcara.Tilcara night.

Departure from Salta to Campo Quijano to take the RN51 that accompanies much of the route of the Train to the Clouds. We traveled through the magical Quebrada del Toro, with its rocky shapes and colors, and then visit one of the most important archaeological sites in northern Argentina, Santa Rosa de Tastil.Luego continue the climb to find the highest point of the road in White Open 4080 m, which allows entry intothe highlands arriving at the town of San Antonio de los Cobres. After lunch, take Route 40 north to visit the spectacular and immense mirror of salt that make up the SalinasGrandes. Finally, zigzagging down the Cuesta de Lipan village of Purmamarca arrived at the foot of the Cerro de los Siete Colores. Walking tour and then to Tilcara.

Day 2: Tilcara / Humahuaca / Iruya / Salta. Night in Salta

After breakfast visit the other villages of Quebrada de Humahuaca, which hides in its dramatic scenery, more than 10000 years of history presenting today delicious vestigesof its past. Then, continue north and then divert a path that leads to Iruya. We ascend toAbra del Condor at 3900 meters, with a spectacular view of the valley and cultivated terraces and then drop to 2780 m, height where is located this charming town. Nestled in the foothills of Zenta, Iruya is an old town of narrow streets and steep that it feels havebeen lost in time. In the afternoon back to Salta.

3 Day Program

Day 1: Salta / San Antonio de los Cobres / Salinas Grandes / Purmamarca. Night at Purmamarca

Day 3: Iruya (walk to San Isidro) / San Salvador / Salta. Night in Salta

In the morning we walk through valleys and gorges to San Isidro, a small town nestled between the hills, lost in time. After lunch, we began our return to the city of San Salvador de Jujuy, where we did a tour of its most relevant sites, and then continue to Salta.
