Calchaqui Valley

Day 01: Salta/ Cachi/ Seclantás/ Molinos/ Angastaco/Quebrada de las Flechas/ San Carlos/ Cafayate. Overnight in Cafayate

We start the tour in the Lerma valley and then turn west to cross the Cordillera. We first enjoy the beautiful Escoipe Gorge of red land and lush vegetation, and then the spectacular winding Cuesta del Obispo which offers a breathtaking view of the valley with their different shades of green. Later, we cross Cardones National Park through an ancient Inca road to arrive in Cachi. Located on the right bank of the Calchaqui River, guarded by the Nevado de Cachi, stands this picturesque village of narrow streets and old colonial houses. Lunch. In the afternoon we continue south along the legendary Route 40, driving past villages whose mud and straw houses take the traveler back to ancient times. We visit Seclantás, famous for its traditional textile artisans, then Molinos, with its farmhouse and its ancient church that holds the remains of the last royal governor, then Angastaco, the prelude to The Arrows Gorge and finally San Carlos, with it´s ancient Jesuit root.

Day 02: Cafayate/ Quebrada de las Conchas/ Salta. Overnight in Salta

In the morning, we walk around the town, visit the wine museum and a winery, where we learn about the process of wine and do wine tasting. In the afternoon we continue our trip to the spectacular Quebrada de las Conchas in whimsical shapes and colors where we can enjoy of a soft hike among the formations. Then we continue towards the city of Salta.
